iPhone photos!!

Woo hoo! I made the leap and got an iphone :) Taking pictures is so easy when you have a phone that is capable of such cool things. Because it's made so much easier for me to do... I'm going to try and take a picture with my phone everyday for a year. Yikes. I know, I know people make this pledge all the time and I hope I'm not too disappointed if I don't follow through but it's worth a try! Here are the first three weeks from when I started.

Little Miss Ada

I nanny on occasion for a couple families in Queen Anne and I can't get over how precious little kids are. They all have their own unique personalities but all have one big similarity.. they make life so enjoyable and are a constant reminder not to take life too seriously. This little angel is Ada. She's got the biggest blue eyes and her expressions are priceless. Her mom gave me a huge compliment and said this image is her favorite that anyone has ever taken of her. Thanks Rebecca! :)

Funny thing about these pictures is that I was sitting in the same spot for all of them. The wind was changing as well as the light which made for good entertainment.

Hawaiian Life.

Took a trip to Maui recently for a much needed vacay and came up with a couple images. I brought all my fancy camera equipment but mostly just shot with my holga because I was too busy napping on the beach and honestly just too lazy too carry my dslr :) It's such a great island. enjoy.

And there are definitely such things as cat fashion shows! Not just in the movies. Didn't get too many pics but you can get the idea. So good.

So many pictures to capture & edit and so little time ;) And on a side note though the weather has been a little funky this summer in Seattle I've been having a blast and taking full advantage of it! Moving back to the bay area has been rolling around in my head for the past few months and I really can't make up my mind. Seattle's just so AWESOME. I love it! I'll just have to keep you posted..

The Rents

I picked up a couple rolls of film today and most of the time I can predict what pictures will be used on here before seeing the final roll. I think sometimes photographers just get that feeling about their work. This experience was a little different.. the expected images I was to post showed up on film as a beige blob (still shown in post) but these little black and white gems were on the roll.

Maybe about a week ago I got a cup of coffee with a friend of mine who shared that she had made a documentary of how people keep passion in their lives. The spark, the drive, the fire, the life in their lives. Consisting of mostly older people whose children have grown, she interviewed men and women on their approach. How does one stay stoked on life? What do you do? How do you keep the fire going? How do you keep from getting bored? What is interesting later in life when maybe you feel like you have lived already? New hobbies, old hobbies? I don't know the answer. My mom has taken up golf and my dad invests his energy in his garden and pets. Love you both.

Being able to travel all around the Puget Sound for weddings is such a blessing.. I'm able to see parts of the state that honestly, I probably wouldn't take the time to go see. Thus being one of the top reasons why I love my job! This couple, Ryan and Becca, were little dolls and being in front of the camera came so naturally to them. Thanks for making the day so easy and enjoyable :)

As ya'll know I'm trying to beef up my portfolio by scheduling tests & here is the latest! I've been super behind on editing work but once I get rolling on a project like this it's hard to stop... the key though, is to actually start editing ;) This was my first studio shoot in... oh lord. I don't even know how long. I was a bit nervous but I couldn't have asked for the day to go more smoothly. A huge thanks to Ken for the studio rental and help with the set up & thank you to the wonderful team! Alyssa with the hair, Heather the MUA, and Cassandra for workin it out on the seamless. woot woot

John Butler Trio & State Radio

My main objective for attending this show was to see one of my all time favorite bands State Radio. Their music is full of passion, faith, love, and intends to reach out to the masses about worldly events. Love them!! You guys put on another really great show. And I don't mind that you play out of tune ;) They opened up for John Butler Trio and though I have heard the name in passing I haven't taken the time to listen to their music. What a treat to first experience them live. They put on an amazing performance and though the venue was supposed to be seated everyone was one their feet groovin to the music.

I picked up a roll of film today...

and do you ever get the feeling like 'what the heck was I thinking when I shot this?' Well... it happened to me today. What the heck was I thinking? I went on a hike up Little Si a couple weeks ago with my sister and the images aren't really my style... I haven't figured out whether I like them or not but either way I'd thought I would share.



This shot of the Space Needle is definitely more along the lines of something I would shoot but now I feel like I'm a little bored with all these flowers ;) I can be so indecisive.

Home Sweet Home

Took a quick trip down to the bay area over the weekend for my sister's wedding shower. Counting down the days and I'm so so excited. The day is going to be filled with wonderful people and it's def going to be a celebration. The fam added a few jams to the DJ list and we were practicing some moves so.. obviously the dance floor is going to be one you wont wanna miss! hah



Everytime I'm in the bay I'm reminded of how much I miss it!! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Seattle but there's nothing like home. :)

I took a quick trip down to Portland last week and brought my trusty ol' holga. (The pictures with the birds were shot in Seattle.) I'm always holding my breath from when I drop the film off to when I pick it up because no matter how well I think I know my equipment there is always a little 'what if' creeping around in my head. Always a pleasure when an image pops up on the roll. ..And doesn't it just really come down to shape line and texture? Something taught in any first photography course. Oh so poetic.

Tis the Season
