2009

It seems appropriate right now to update everyone and kind of sum up what has been going on for me this past year. And what a year it's been!

I've been living in Seattle and really now starting to like it. The people are so humble, it's so nerdy and outdoorsy, and absolutely beautiful! It's surrounded by mountains and water and the seasons are incredible. This January will mark a year from when I officially launched my business *pat on back* & I'm taking myself out for a special treat. I deserve it. I mean, I've been working hard... trying to at least. :) Being my own boss has a lot of perks but I find myself not really giving myself time to go out and actually have a 'day off'. There is always something to do! One of my new years resolutions is to step away from the comp a little more... and breathe more of that fresh NW air.

Throughout the year my photography work has been shooting events, catalog work, live music shows, and some random fashion stuff. During the summer I contracted out for a local wedding & event company here in town photographing weddings. I booked myself a few on my own as well and that kept me busy busy busy. I'm not making oober bucks by any means and I do shoot some pro bono work but I feel good about the foundation that is being set.

What else... I have been nannying for two German families and January will mark a year. There are 2 girls who are now two years old and it has been such a blessing to watch them grow from crying winey poopy babies into little humans with huge personalities. Luci and Joelle are little lights in my life that keep me smiling and remind me not to take life too seriously. Love them!!

This year has been pretty darn good to me and I'm keeping the ball rolling right into the new year. I am so thankful to be practicing photography and having so much support from my friends and family. Here's a photo composite by www.alysoncjones.com called "Journey to the North" that reminds me of a story my mother used to tell me before bed. For some reason it gets me inspired and I love looking at it. So quiet and peaceful and you can almost hear their soft footsteps on the snow. Have a happy holidays everyone :) xoxoxox

p.s. still no facebook... we'll see. i like blogging <3

My layout has been a little messy lately but only because I want to be able to post BIGGER pictures :) I'm cleaning out some images from the year and thought this was a nice one. On a side note I desperately need to update my website...!!

Yes, London. You know... fish, chips, cup 'o tea, bad food worse weather Mary f*%#in Poppins... LONDON

A quick little trip with my dad to visit my Grandad for Thanksgiving. He lives in a little town about an hour South of London called Rye. Paul McCartney owns a little B&B there called the Windmill and they even serve veggie sausages. Perfect! Here are a couple pics from my trip... not many but I did what I could!

Believe it or not this bend in the river is where my surname originated. One of the reasons for the trip was to make the trek and see this river bend.
